Seattle, Wash. -
Seattle University men's golf coach Marc Chandonnet announced Tuesday that Kyle Cornett of Mill Creek, Wash., has signed a National Letter of Intent and will compete for the Redhawks starting in the 2013-14 season.
Cornett has spent three years on the varsity golf team at Jackson High School in Mill Creek, winning the 4A state championship in 2012. He was named First Team All-Wesco that year, and named Team Captain as well. Cornett has qualified for the state tournament all three years at Jackson, placing sixth in 2011 before breaking through with the title in 2012.
In addition to high school golf, Cornett has plenty of experience in junior golf events as well. He has tournament victories in the 2012 Bill Egbers Memorial, 2012 Seattle Junior Open, Snohomish County Junior Amateur, and he was an alternate for the United States Amateur. Additionally, he represented Team Washington at the Hogan Cup and earned Honorable Mention honors from the Future Collegians World Tour.
"I am very excited to have such a high caliber student-athlete like Kyle join our team," said Chandonnet. "He will be a wonderful addition to our university community and his skills will certainly help propel our men's golf program to new levels."
