The Seattle University women’s rowing team will participate in their first race as a NCAA Division I varsity program on October 28 at the Portland Fall Classic in Portland, Ore. The race will take place along the Willamette River in downtown Portland.
The regatta is a 5000 meter race for juniors, college, and masters rowers in several different boat categories. The day will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the Women’s Collegiate Varsity 8+ racing at 8:36 a.m. and the Women’s Collegiate/Open Novice 8+ racing at 11:17 a.m.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to race so many quality programs in our inaugural season of varsity women’s rowing,” said head coach Portia McGee. “Our racing goal this year is to expose ourselves to great competition, race hard, and experience the thrill of competing in NCAA Division I women’s rowing.”
