The Seattle University men’s golf team got in one complete
round of golf Monday in the first day of the Bill Cullum Invitational, but
could not finish the second before darkness fell on the Wood Ranch Golf Club in
Simi Valley, Calif.
Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.) saw his first first-team
action of the season, having only played as an individual at one other
tournament this year. Beals opened the
tournament with a 1-under-par 71 in the first round, which put him in a tie for
sixth place.
Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) carded a 4-over-par 76 to sit in
a tie for 46th, and both Colter Morton (Pocatello, Idaho) and Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) shot 9-over-par 81 tying for 92nd.
Justin Haase (Spokane, Wash.), who also played his first
first-team round of theseason Monday, shot 13-over-par 85, placing
105th after the first 18 holes of the tournament.
As a team, Seattle U took 309 strokes in the first round, 21
strokes above par. The Redhawks finished the first round in 18th
place, while Washington State and San Diego were tied for the team lead with
scores of even-par 288. UC Irvine’s Travis Russell and Boise State’s Clayton
Kosanovich were tied for the individual lead with opening rounds of 3-under-par
69.
The Redhawks will finish up the second round Tuesday,
October 23 with play starting at 7:30 a.m. Final round action will follow the
conclusion of the second round at Wood Range GC.
