The Seattle University women’s golf team continued its’ busy week Saturday, playing the first two rounds of the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate held at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.

Clare Sorensen (Roseville, Calif.) is the top-ranked Redhawk after the first two rounds, carding scores of 5-over-par 77 and 3-over-par 75 Saturday. She has a collective total of 8-over-par 152 and is tied for 20th overall. Just two strokes back, Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) is tied for 30th after opening rounds of 6-over 78 and 4-over 76. Pearson sits at 10-over-par 154 for the tournament and in a tie for 30th.

Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) started her first scoring rounds of the year with rounds of 80 and 82, taking 162 total strokes (+18) on the day. Making her first collegiate tournament appearance, Amanda Beyke (Federal Way, Wash.) cut 10 strokes during the second round, firing an 8-over-par 80 in the second round after an 18-over 90 in the first. She is tied for 95th with an overall total of 26-over-par 170.

Juhee Lee (Manhatten, Ore.) rounded out the Seattle U roster after rounds of 87 and 85 Saturday. She has a tournament score of 28-over-par 172 and is tied for 96th place.

As a team, Seattle U is tied for 14th with Cal Poly. Both schools took 635 strokes (+59) Saturday, while Fresno State has the team lead with a score of 580 (+4). Individually, Christine Uhalde of Fresno State has a one-stroke advantage with a two-round total of 140, four strokes under par.

Seattle U will wrap up the two-day tournament with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun Sunday, October 14, again at The Classic Club.
