The Seattle University women’s golf team hit the road
Monday, but they did not venture far from home as they began play at the Edean
Ihlanfeldt Invitational held at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.
Monica Keo (Oaho, Hawaii) finished the first round as the
top-ranked SU golfer, sitting in a tie for 43rd place. She took 79 strokes on
the day, seven shots above par.
Just one stroke behind Keo fellow Redhawks Lori Pearson
(Seattle, Wash.) and Clare Sorensen (Roseville, Calif.). Both shot 8-over-par
80 Monday to tie for 50th.
Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) began her 2012-13 season
with a 15-over-par 87 Tuesday, tying for a piece of 75th place, while Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) rounded out the Seattle U lineup with an
18-over-par 80 and sole possession of 82nd place.
As a team, the Redhawks tallied a score of 326, 38 strokes
above par, and are in 14th place out of a strong field of 16 teams-six of which are ranked in the top 50. Washington has the lead with a 5-over-par 293,
while the Huskies’ Cyd Okino has the individual lead with a 2-under-par 70.
The Redhawks will play the tournament’s second round
Tuesday, October 8 with tee times starting at 10:30 a.m. off the tenth tee at
Sahalee CC.
