Men's Golf Plays Two Despite Fog at Dash Thomas

Meridian, Idaho - 

Despite thick fog that delayed play for two hours Monday, the Seattle U men’s golf team got in two rounds of the BSU Dash Thomas Memorial held at The Club at Spurwing in Meridian, Idaho.

Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) led the way for SU, playing his first two rounds of the tournament at 1-under-par 141. Seibly turned in a 2-over 73 in the morning round, but shot 68 for the second time this year in the afternoon to sit in 11th place entering Tuesday’s final round of play.

David Torres (Armenia, Colombia) sits in a tie for 28th after turning in rounds of 74 and 72 Monday. He is currently at four over par for the tournament.

Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.) played his first competitive rounds of the year Monday at The Club at Spurwing, carding a five-over par 76 and six-over-par 77 to total 153 stokes, 11 above par and in a tie for 59th. Just four shots behind him sit Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) and John Pechan (Bothell, Wash.), who both shot 15-over-par 157 over Monday’s two rounds to sit tied with each other for 67th place.

As a team, the Redhawks are 11th with a total of 595 strokes, 27 strokes over par. Washington State has the team lead at seven-under-par 561, while Mason Casper of Utah Valley played two rounds in 135 shots, seven under par, to take the individual lead.

SU will play the third and final round of the BSU Dash Thomas Memorial Tuesday Sept. 25. Play will begin at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time with a shotgun start.
