The Seattle University men's golf team started its 2012-13 season Monday, playing the first two rounds of the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
The team competition is taking place on the par-72 Olympic Course at Gold Mountain and has 15 squads of five players each taking part in it. Will Holdridge (Lynden, Wash.) is the top Seattle U player after two rounds. He followed up a first-round 80 (8-over-par) with a second-round even-par 72 to stand at 152, eight strokes over par for the tournament. He is currently tied for 33rd.
Freshman David Torres (Armenia, Colombia) has the next-highest score for the Redhawks. He took 158 strokes (+14) on his first day of collegiate golf to sit tied for 59th. One stroke behind Torres is Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.), who took 159 strokes (+15) to finish his two rounds Monday. He is currently tied for 63rd.
Colter Morton (Pocatello, Idaho) is currently 72nd after shooting 170 (+26) over Monday's two rounds, while Alec Pakzad is two strokes and two spots behind him in 74th with a two-round total of 172, 28 strokes above par.
As a team, Seattle U is in 14th with a collective total of 627, 51 strokes above par. Washington leads the tournament with a score of 3-under-par 573 while the Huskies' Cheng-Tsung Pan sits atop the player leaderboard with a two-round total of 135, nine strokes under par.
The Redhawks also had four players competing in a separate tournament for players competing as an individual. That field is playing the par-71 Cascade Course at Gold Mountain. John Pechan (Bothell, Wash.) is the highest-ranked Seattle U individual after shooting 69 and 76 on the day for a total of 145, three strokes over par. He is currently tied for sixth in the individual tournament.
Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.) turned in scores of 80 and 74 Monday to sit alone in 24th with a two-round total of 154, 12 strokes over par.
Justin Haase (Spokane, Wash.) made his collegiate debut Monday, shooting 17-over-par 154 through two rounds. He has sole possession of 30th while Alex Dow (Sacramento, Calif.) is in 32nd after taking 162 strokes and is 20-over-par through two rounds.
Drew Evans of Texas A&M has the lead in the individual tournament with a two-round total of 137, five strokes under par.
