Redhawks Head to Spokane For First of Four Straight Road Games: After opening the season with four of their first five games at home, Seattle University women’s soccer (3-2-0) heads to Spokane to face Gonzaga (5-1-0) on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. The Redhawks will return home on Sunday, Sept. 23 (12 p.m.) to host Utah Valley in their final non-conference game of the season.

Busque Named to CollegeSoccer360 Honor Roll: Melissa Busque was named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer Honor Roll for the week of Aug. 27 - Sept. 2 for her performance in the win versus Portland State. Busque recorded her first career assist for the Redhawks on Stephanie Verdoia’s game-winning goal, also recording a shot in 73 minutes on the field.
Ritzman Named WAC Offensive Player of the Week (Aug. 20-26): Taylor Ritzman was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording a hat trick on Aug. 26 versus Eastern Washington. This is already the second hat trick and second such award for the Redhawks this season. Ritzman scored all three goals for Seattle U in the 3-0 victory. Two of her three goals were within 25 seconds of each other and three of her four goals this season have come within three minutes of entering the contest.
Leaders of the WAC: After the third week of competition, Taylor Ritzman is tied for the individual lead in the WAC in points (8) and goals (4), and has sole possession of the lead in points per match (2.67) and goals per match (1.33). Monique Escalera is tied for the lead in assists (3) and leads in assists per match (.60).
As Seen on TV: Two Seattle U contests this season will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network (Friday, Sept. 14 at Oregon at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 16 at Oregon State at 12 p.m.).
Scouting Gonzaga: The Bulldogs are currently 5-1-0 in 2012, currently leading the West Coast Conference, and will host Washington on Friday before hosting Seattle U on Sunday. So far this season, they have topped South Dakota, Idaho, Boise State, Austin Peay, and Vanderbilt, falling only to Washington State, 0-3, on the Cougars’ home field during opening weekend. Three different Bulldogs lead the team with two goals apiece and Sila Tuiofea currently leads the team with six points. Tori Lee leads the team with three assists. Emma Dolcetti and Heather Johnson have taken a team-leading 15 shots apiece so far in 2012, with each also recording eight shots on goal. Last season, Gonzaga finished the year 7-10-2 and 0-6-2 in WCC play.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks and Bulldogs last faced during the regular season on Sept. 30, 2011, at Championship Field when Gonzaga won the match, 2-0. Seattle U led in shots, 15-6, but a pair of first half goals by the Bulldogs snapped a four-game winning streak for the Redhawks. Kasey Rubosky scored the game-winning goal and Tori Lee added a security goal for Gonzaga.
