Registration is now open for supporters of the Seattle University men's basketball program to participate in the 10th annual O'Brien Open, taking place Monday, Sept. 10, at The Golf Course at Redmond Ridge.
The yearly fundraising golf tournament, presented for the second straight time by Puget Sound Bank, is named in honor of Ed and John O'Brien, the twins from New Jersey who helped spread the word about Seattle University basketball nationwide in the early 1950s.
The entry fee is $175 per player and includes greens fees, a cart, range balls, a Seattle U hat, a sleeve of golf balls, lunch, and dinner. Also, each golfer will receive two tickets to the 2012-13 Seattle U men's basketball home opener at KeyArena.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available for individuals and companies. The Championship level has been set at $5,980, which is a dollar for every point scored by John O'Brien, Ed O'Brien, and Ed O'Brien Jr. during their time at Seattle University. Interested parties can also support the Redhawk basketball team at the Slam Dunk ($2,500), Three-Pointer ($1,000), and Assist ($500) levels.
Online registration to play golf is available through the Special Events tab on GoSeattleU.com, or through this link. Potential participants and sponsors can also download the attached brochure, fill it out, and mail it back to the Seattle University athletics department.
