SEATTLE – Senior infielder Jacob Prater has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® 8 Baseball Team, as selected by members of CoSIDA. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Nominees must carry at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's competitions.

Prater, a Wenatchee, Wash., native, is an Environmental Studies/Ecological Systems major carrying a 3.79 cumulative GPA and set to graduate from Seattle U in June. He is one of just two players from the Western Athletic Conference to be honored.

This season, Prater is batting .270 with 51 hits, including seven doubles, two triples and two home runs. He is second on the team in walks drawn (23) and stolen bases (six) and leads the Redhawks in the number of times he has reached base on a hit-by-pitch (14). The senior is also one of just two players to start every single game this season.

This marks the third consecutive season that the Redhawks have had at least one player selected to the Academic All-District team. In 2018, Curtis Perrin and Sean Sutton both earned the honor, and in 2017, Jack Reisinger was selected.
