BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Seattle University volleyball closed out the 2018 season on Thursday evening, dropping a 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 decision to Kansas City in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament, hosted by CSU Bakersfield.
The Redhawks wrap up the year with an 11-19 overall record while Kansas City moves to 21-10 and moves on to face New Mexico State in the WAC Tournament semifinals Friday.
Carrying a two-match win streak into the tournament opener, the sixth-seeded Redhawks battled throughout, but could not quite match the Roos' offense. Seattle U finished with 34 kills and a .138 hitting percentage while Kansas City hit .271 with 43 kills for the match.
Rachel Stark led the Redhawks with nine kills. Senior Maja Stojanovic added six kills and a pair of blocks. Freshman Sofia Sanchez also added six kills. WAC Setter of the Year Shae Harris collected 30 assists to conclude her career with 2,739.
Kansas City was paced by Tyrecia Lukes' 16 kills. She was the only player in the match with double-figure kills.
