RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Freshman Sofia Sanchez notched her ninth double-digit kills output of the season, but Seattle University volleyball dropped a four-set decision at Western Athletic Conference leader California Baptist Saturday afternoon in Riverside, Calif.

Sanchez tallied 14 kills and hit .216 for the match to lead three Redhawks (8-13, 1-7 WAC) in double-figures. Senior Maja Stojanovic added 11 kills while freshman Julia Queiroz collected 11 kills on 16 swings with just one error for a .625 hitting percentage. Queiroz also added a team-high five blocks.

The Redhawks came out firing in the first set, hitting .325 on their way to a commanding 25-13 win over the Lancers (17-5, 8-2 WAC). But the home team responded with a lopsided 25-14 win of their own, then went on to grind out 28-26 and 25-21 wins in the third and fourth sets.

Seattle U got a team-high 23 digs from Tijana Milojevic and 39 assists from Shae Harris.

The Redhawks remain on the road for their next two matches, beginning Oct. 25 at Utah Valley. First serve is set for 6 p.m. Pacific and the match will stream on the WAC Digital Network.
