BROOKINGS, S.D. – Seattle University volleyball held South Dakota State to a .121 hitting percentage Thursday evening in a 25-19, 25-18, 25-20 sweep at the Comfort Suites University Jackrabbit Invitational in Brookings, S.D.

Sophomore Rachel Stark led the Redhawks (2-2) with a match-high 11 kills while freshman Eve Kerschenbaum added 10 kills on just 18 attempts and two errors for a .444 hitting percentage. Freshman Julia Queiroz added eight kills on 10 swings and two errors for a .600 hitting percentage.

The Redhawks were in control of the match nearly from start to finish as the three-set affair featured just four tie scores and two total lead changes.

"The team played very well and we had a chance to get everyone in, which was nice," said Head Coach James Finley. "We got our middles running, which was something we had trouble with last weekend so it was exciting to see that, and Michelle and Tijana were awesome on defense."

South Dakota State's (0-4) Makenzie Hennen paced the Jackrabbits with 10 kills, but hit at just a .075 clip.

Seattle U finished with an 11.0-4.0 block advantage while Michelle Taynton and Tijana Milojevic collected 13 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Redhawks continue play at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Friday, facing Green Bay at 2:30 p.m. PT.
