2019 Outdoor: Seattle U Track and Field Male Freshman of the Year... Academic All-WAC... reached the 10th-best mark in the WAC with a personal-best 21.65 in the 200m dash at the WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships… also took fourth place with the 4x100m relay team with a time of 42.06 and ran 3:22.90 with the 4x400m relay team at that meet… took third place in his heat with a 10.93 100m dash at that meet… at the Oregon State High Performance meet, had the 10th-best 100m dash time in the conference at 10.72, good for fifth place and a personal best… also took fourth place in the 200m dash with 21.67 and second place with the 4x100m relay team’s time of 42.32 at that meet… ran the 100m dash in 10.88 at the Bryan Clay Invitational… with the 4x100m relay team, had a time of 43.32 at the St. Martin’s Jay Hammer Invitational… took third place with a 100m dash time of 10.92 and fifth place with the 4x100m relay team’s 43.22 at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic… at the Doris Heritage Track Festival, won second place in the 100m dash with his time of 11.04 and took fifth in the 200m dash at 22.21… also in that meet, finished in second place with the 4x100 relay team after posting a time of 42.92.
2019 Indoor: Ran a personal-best 22.00 200m dash, the eighth-best mark in the conference, at the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships… at the Last Chance College Elite, ran the 60m dash in a 6.96 for the WAC’s 10th-best mark of the season… had a time of 7.08 in the 60m dash and 22.51 in the 200m dash at the Husky Classic… took second place with the 4x400m relay team at the Cougar Indoor, finishing in 3:31.31… at the UW Invitational, ran the 50m dash in 7.10… had a time of 7.10 in the 60m dash and 22.73 in the 200m dash at the UW Preview.
High School: A four-year varsity letterwinner in track at Seabury Hall High School, Payne competed at state championships every year of his high school career… holds the Maui Interscholastic League records for both the 100m and 200m sprints, with respective times of 10.81 and 21.82… undefeated in sprints until State in both his junior and senior year… was awarded Seabury Hall High School’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2018 for his accomplishments in both track and basketball… his play on the basketball court garnered him three straight MIL Basketball Player of the Year awards in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
