SEATTLE – (July 12) Seattle University volleyball will host 11 matches on its home court this fall as part of the Redhawks’ 29-match slate as Head Coach James Finley enters his sixth season at the helm of the program.
“Our 2018 schedule is balanced with strong competition that provides challenges and opportunities for big wins in preparation for our run at the WAC Championship,” said Finley. “We have strong senior leadership and had a very successful spring that has us ready to face the 2018 season.”
The Redhawks will open the season on the road for nine straight matches, then begin play at home on Sept. 14-15 when they host Idaho State, Montana State and Tennessee Tech in a round-robin tournament at the Redhawk Center.
Early non-conference play has Seattle U facing opponents from all over the western region of the country as they compete in tournaments at San Diego State, South Dakota State and Sacramento State.
A final non-conference match takes the Redhawks to Oregon State on Sept. 18 before opening Western Athletic Conference play at home on Sept. 22 versus Chicago State.
The home-and-home WAC regular-season schedule features 16 total matches as conference newcomer California Baptist makes for nine total teams.
The Redhawks will close out the regular-season at home on Nov. 15 and Nov. 17, hosting Grand Canyon and CSU Bakersfield, respectively. The top six teams in the WAC regular-season standings will then travel to Bakersfield, Calif., for the WAC Tournament on Nov. 22-24, to vie for the league’s NCAA automatic bid.
