BELLEVUE, Wash. – (May 9) Wrapping up the last of its non-conference slate before heading into its final two Western Athletic Conference series, Seattle University baseball dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Portland Wednesday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.
The two teams combined for just 13 hits on the day, including six for the second straight game for the Redhawks (30-17). Chase Wells went 3-for-4 with a double while Justin Mazzone collated two hits and Austin Lively had one.
Nathan Bonck (4-2) was the pitcher of record for Seattle U after giving up one run in the third, an inning where he walked two and allowed two hits. Tyler Yeh would give up the second Pilot run in the seventh on a triple and sacrifice fly.
Reliever Jordan Horak earned the win in 4.1 innings of work for Portland (19-26). He struck out six batters while allowing just two hits.
The Redhawks hit the road for the final time this season, traveling to face Utah Valley in a three-game WAC series beginning Friday, May 11 at 5 p.m. PT.
