BELLEVUE, Wash. – (March 14) Seattle University baseball rallied for a win over its second straight West Coast Conference opponent, topping Gonzaga, 6-4, Wednesday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.

The Redhawks scored four unanswered runs late to secure their second straight victory and move to 11-7 on the season. The Zags dropped to 9-7.

Trailing 4-2 headed into the home half of the seventh, Dalton Hurd and Lucas Denny came up with big RBI hits to give the Redhawks the lead. Jake Cosgrove started things off with a one-out triple and Sean Sutton was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners for Hurd, whose single into left field sent Cosgrove home. Denney followed with a two-RBI double into left field to give Seattle U a 5-4 lead.

The Redhawks tacked on an insurance run in the eighth as Jacob Prater sent an RBI-single up the middle, scoring Michael Ciancio from second.

Jake Prizina went five innings on the mound for the Redhawks. The junior lefty struck out four, walked a pair and scattered six hits for three runs. Brayden Weyer would earn the win in relief while Zach Wolf earned his fifth save of the season for shutting down the Zags in the ninth.

Seattle U finished the day with seven hits, including two by Cosgrove.

The Redhawks return to Bannerwood Park on Saturday, hosting British Columbia in a single game starting at 2 p.m.
