KISSIMMEE, Fla. – (March 4) Seattle University baseball capped the weekend in Kissimmee, Fla., with a big 11-7 win over Notre Dame Sunday morning.

The Redhawks pounded out 12 hits and never trailed in the game, moving to 7-5 on the season. The Fighting Irish dropped to 6-4 overall.

A three-run first inning got things going for Seattle U As Sean Sutton drove in a run with a single to right and two batters later, Lucas Denny sent two more home with a double down the right field line.

Notre Dame scored one in the third and one in the fourth to make it a 3-2 ballgame, but Seattle U answered with a run of its own in the top of the fifth. The Redhawks then broke the game open, scoring twice in the seventh, four times in the eighth and once more in the ninth.

The Fighting Irish posted a four-spot in the bottom of the ninth, but could not rally all the way back from the 11-3 hole.

Dawson Day went four innings on the mound for Seattle U before giving way to Tyler Oldenberg, earned the win in relief. Austin Hansen also made a brief appearance and Tyler Yeh closed out the final two innings.

Lively, Sutton, Dalton Hurd and Chase Wells each had two hits for the Redhawks. Sutton collected three RBIs, Lively scored four times and Denny also added the pair of RBIs.

Seattle U concludes its five-game road swing on Tuesday, making the short trip up I5 to face crosstown rival Washington at Husky Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
