SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – (Oct. 17) Seattle University men's golf used a strong final round of play at the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley, Calif., to place in a tie for fifth in the team standings as play concluded Tuesday afternoon at Wood Ranch Golf Club.

The Redhawks sat in ninth place after the first two rounds of play in the field of 12 teams. Lowering their team score each round they finished with a 14-over-par 878 (294-293-291).

Senior Joe Harvie paced the Redhawks with a one-over-par 217 to earn a tie for 21st place. Harvie opened with a four-over 76 in the first round, then followed with a one-under 71 and two-under 70. He finished strong with five birdies in his final round.

Sophomore Zack Overstreet placed in a tie for 34th at four-over-par 220 (72-73-75) while classmate Greg Gionfriddo finished in a tie for 41st at six-over-par 222 (71-79-72).

Freshmen Gabe Spach (T48, +7 223) and Nick Baker (T71, +15 231) rounded out the Redhawk competitors. 

Seattle U closes out the fall portion of its 2017-18 schedule at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, hosted by the University of Pacific at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif., Oct. 26-28.
