EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – (Sept. 16) Seattle University volleyball closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 25-23, 25-17, 25-12 setback to Illinois-Chicago Saturday at the Cougar Invite, hosted by SIUE.

For her efforts over the three matches, Maja Stojanovic was named to the All-Tournament Team. The junior middle blocker had six kills on 12 swings with just one error against UIC. She also added three blocks for the Redhawks (4-7).

Seattle U led 6-2 early in the first set, but UIC rallied to tie the score 10-10. The Flames would pull ahead 17-12 and Seattle U would never recover.

The two teams played tightly through most of the second set, but with UIC leading 19-16, the Flames would score six of the final seven points to take a 2-0 set advantage. A final big run by UIC midway through the third set put the match away.

Katarina Glavinic led the Redhawks with seven kills. Stojanovic and Katarina Marinkovic had six apiece. Marinkovic and Tijana Milojevic added 13 digs apiece.

The Redhawks return to Seattle to open Western Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 23 against Utah Valley. First serve in the Connolly Complex is set for 3:00 p.m.
