PHOENIX (April 1) – Seattle University softball fell, 8-0 in five innings, at Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon. Madison Cathcart had a hit in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest at GCU Softball Stadium.

“Taking the series against a quality team on the road is what we're going to take from this weekend," said Coach Geoff Hirai. "We'll get back to work this coming week and hope to see all of Redhawk nation at our first home games on Friday."

The hosts scored in each of the first three innings, grabbing control of the game. GCU (26-13, 1-2 WAC) added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, sealing the decision.

Cathcart had a single for the Redhawks (13-22, 2-1 WAC). Nicole Bolasky drew a walk.

Seattle U won the weekend series after sweeping a doubleheader on Friday.

The Redhawks host New Mexico State in their home opener on Friday, April 7. First pitch for a doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. at Logan Field.
