SAN FRANCISCO – (MAR. 31) Three Redhawk track and field student athletes made the trip to San Francisco, Calif. to compete in the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on Friday.

Olivia Stein, Matthew Seidel, and Tyler Flannery all represented Seattle University in the 10,000 meter run.

In her first collegiate attempt at the event, Stein finished in 26th place out of 56 with a time of 37:34.27.

In a men’s group of 96, Seidel finished in 56th place with a time of 31:37.8, and Flannery finished in 70th with a personal record time of 32:19.92.

“Olivia, Matt, and Tyler all battled well today,” head coach Trisha Steidl said. “Coming from the most cloudy, cool winter on record to a sunny, warm locale made this a tougher day than it would usually be. It’s a good step toward preparing for the conference meet as it will be hot. I’m proud of the effort each of these three put out today. They’re all capable of running faster, and did a great job staying strong today.”

Next up, the team travels to Spokane, Wash. to compete at WAR 9 on Apr. 7-8.
