Seattle University baseball (37-21) regained the lead and held off NM State (34-23) in the Western Athletic Conference tournament semifinals, advancing to their second straight championship, but ultimately fell to Utah Valley (37-21), 4-0, in the championship game.

NM State scored one in the first and tacked on four more in the second to lead 5-0 before SU took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the second on five hits and two Aggie errors. In the next half inning, Seattle U led off with back-to-back hits and added four more runs to lead, 11-5.

The Aggies came within three, 11-8, but the Redhawks scored one more in the seventh on a Griffin Andreychuk (Nanaimo, B.C., Canada) single and, despite two late NMSU runs, Seattle U would hold on for the 12-10 victory.

In game two, the Wolverines scored one early on a trio of hits while adding three more in the fifth to lead, 4-0, and they would hold on for the championship victory.

Jake Prizina (Sparks, Nev.) picked up the win in the semifinal vs. NM State while Connor Moore (West Richland, Wash.) earned his fourth save of the season.

After winning the regular season title and advancing to their second straight WAC championship game, Lucas Denney (Goldendale, Wash.) and Sean Sutton (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) represented the Redhawks on the All-Tournament Team.

The Redhawks record-breaking season ends in the WAC Tournament and Seattle U looks forward to continuing to break records and looking for their first NCAA Tournament berth in 2016-17.
