Seattle University baseball (20-11) cut the Washington (17-11) lead to one in the third inning but the Huskies tacked on five in the next inning en route to a 12-4 win in a non-conference contest at Husky Ballpark.

Washington took a 4-0 lead in the second on five hits, including a two-RBI home run by Gage Matuszak before the Redhawks cut the lead to one, 4-3, on a three-RBI double by Brock Carpenter (Milton, Wash.). The Huskies extended their lead, 9-3, in the fourth and tacked on two more in the sixth.

Each team scored a run apiece in the seventh, SU on a Chase Ridder (Lake Stevens, Wash.) solo home run with one out, but UW would hold onto the lead for the remainder.

Sheldon Stober (Kent, Wash.) hit 2-for-4 with a run to lead SU at the plate while seven different Redhawks collected hits.

The game marked the first of three games over the next three weeks between the Huskies and Redhawks. Next Tuesday, Apr. 19, the Dawgs visit Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, Wash. before SU returns to Husky Ballpark the following Tuesday, Apr. 26.
