High School: A four-year letter winner in both cross country and track and field at Capital High School, Monk finished eighth at the 2013 WIAA Cross Country Championships, and then he finished fifth in the 3200 meter run and eighth in the 1600 meter run at the 2014 WIAA Track and Field Championships. He earned the team's rookie of the year award in 2010 and the hardest worker award in 2014. He also created the first place painting and first place drawing on Arts Recognition Night.

Personal: Monk is the oldest son of Christine and Scott Monk, with a younger brother named Matthew. He is planning on majoring in civil engineering.
