Seattle, Wash. -

The fall season for the Seattle University baseball team continued Saturday, Sept. 22, with another intrasquad scrimmage at Steve Cox Memorial Park in the White Center section of Seattle.

A major part of the Sept. 22 scrimmage was the parent potluck, in which the parents of the veteran players welcome the parents of the newcomers into the program. Seattle U head baseball coach Donny Harrel believes that the parents are an important part of the success of the program.

"Our parents are incredible. One of the goals that my wife Cam and I had when we started this program was to bring the parents back to involvement. It is very typical at the D1 level that the parents are on the outside looking in. Here at SU, we have created a totally different involvement. We want them to feel like Seattle U is their "next" college for the time they are here with us and their son," said Harrel.

"Our parents have gone beyond the call of duty and do a tremendous job making our organization better. They organize potlucks, tailgates, get involved with our dinner/auction, get dirty with our field projects and help with all of our charity fundraisers. They have a ball! It is a great group of parents and as you can tell from the potluck picture - they have a lot of fun doing it. We are truly blessed by their involvement to our program."

The Redhawks are allowed 32 practices in a 45-day window during the fall to stay in shape and prepare for the spring season. The baseball team plans to hold its annual Black and Scarlet World Series in October, details of which will be posted soon.

The Seattle University baseball team is entering its first season in the Western Athletic Conference. The full 2013 schedule is being finalized and will be released sometie during the fall.
