High School: Hammond spent four years starting for the Shorecrest High varsity baseball squad. Playing pitcher and outfielder for the Scots, he was named First Team All-Division Outfielder in 2011 and First Team All-Division Pitcher in 2012. He also earned the team's MVP award in 2011 and 2012. Hammond notched 202 career strikeouts with a high of 15 k's in one game. He participated in an all-state tournament in Yakima, Wash. Hammond also played three years on the school's varsity football team. He earned three First Team All-Division designations, honored for his punting in 2011 and 2012 and as a quarterback in 2012. In 2011 he also earned First Team All-Division as a quarterback.
