Carroll College: Bates competed at Carroll College in Helena, Mont., for two years.

Lakewood HS: Bates was a three-time letterwinner in track and field as well as a letterwinner in cross country for the Cougars. She also participated in club soccer for Snohomish United from 2006 to 2009.

Personal: Bates is the daughter of Kevin Bates and Karen Bates-Earnest and has two siblings, Katherine Bates and Arthur Earnest. Born Jan. 28, 1991, she is majoring in psychology.
