DENVER – (April 16) Maddy Kristjanson and Andie Larkins of Seattle University softball have been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 15. The duo led the Redhawks to their second straight WAC sweep at CSU Bakersfield over the weekend.

Kristjanson batted .455 in the three-game set, hitting a pair of home runs to go with three runs and three RBIs. Her homer in the top of the 10th inning of the weekend’s first game was the difference in SU’s 4-3 win.

Larkins pitched a complete game Saturday, allowing just two hits in a 7-2 win over the `Runners. She matched a career high with eight strikeouts in the win.

The honor is the first of Kristjanson’s four-year career. Larkins claimed the award once last season. The Redhawks have had three different pitchers win the WAC’s weekly honor in 2018, as Carley Nance and Shianne Smith have won as well.

Coach Geoff Hirai’s squad has won 30 games, a Division I program high, in 2018.

SU hosts Grand Canyon on senior weekend April 20-21 at Logan Field. The Redhawks are tied with New Mexico State for first place in the WAC standings with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
