SEATTLE - (Dec. 7) Men and women's golf Head Coach Marc Chandonnet was a part of the US COLLEGE CAMP last month, which was its fifth sports education program in Thailand. The event has been sponsored by the Singha Corporation for the past five years, and additional sponsors this year include Mazda and Doi Kham. The camp was attended by 500 youth and parents on Nov. 10-12. By including 27 college and professional coaches, the attendees had the opportunity to learn about initial eligibility, NCAA rules, recruiting timelines, and how to choose the right US college. Coaches explained how athletes can use their athletic talents to earn scholarships to study in the United States. Since the camp’s inception in 2013, many Thai athletes have received scholarship offers from relationships that they made at the camp.

"Exploring the world, learning different cultures has been quite the experience." Chandonnet said. "The families and players we have met were so grateful for the knowledge we shared as coaches and the talent levels and growth of the camp have grown exponentially. I'm very thankful to have opportunities like this to represent SeattleU and the great game of golf."

Five major sports were featured this year including golf, tennis, soccer, swimming and badminton. After the seminar day at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, sports were sent to different facilities in other regions of Thailand. The golf portion of the camp was held at Royal Hills Golf Club in Nakhon Nayok. Tennis held the portion of their camp at the CV Sport Club. Soccer was held at the Hua Mak stadium. Badminton was held at the Singapore International School, Bangkok (SISB). The Prachautit, Swimming Pool at Thammasat University Rangsit Campus will host international coaches, swimmers, and instructors on Nov. 19.
