DENVER – (Dec. 4) Alexis Montgomery of Seattle University women’s basketball has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week, for the period ending Dec. 3. Montgomery averaged a double-double over two games for the Redhawks last week.
The native of Beaverton, Ore., posted 18 points and 13 rebounds in a win over San Diego on Dec. 2. She hit 7-13 field goals, including a three-pointer, in the home victory. Montgomery added four assists and a blocked shot in 36 minutes of action.
In a defeat at No. 24 Cal, Montgomery registered 26 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. In the contest, the senior scored her 1,000th career point, becoming the 17th player in program history to achieve the feat.
On the season, Montgomery is putting up 20.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, both good for second in the WAC. She has three double-doubles this season and 14 in her career.
Kamira Sanders won WAC Player of the Week on Nov. 20. Montgomery claimed a pair of WAC Player of the Week honors last season.
