Seattle men’s basketball coach, Joe Callero has announced the signing of national letters of intent by two high school seniors. Aaron Broussard of Federal Way High School and Gavin Gilmore of Pasco High School will join Seattle for next season.
Broussard is a 6’5” 205 pound wing player who averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds last season at Federal Way. He was named second team all-league last season as well as honorable mention all-league in 2005-06.
He has been a four year letter winner in basketball and also a three year letter winner in football for the Eagles. He was named first team all-league as a receiver in 2007.
Coach Callero calls Aaron, “A physical and focused student-athlete. We want to keep the best Seattle Area Players at home. He has the mental and physical make-up to face the future competition.”
Gilmore will come to Seattle from Pasco where he averaged 13 points and seven rebounds last season. He is a 6’8” 215 pound post player who last season was named second team all-area as well as All-Regional Tournament second team. He is a two year captain for the Bulldogs and has been named the most improved player the last two seasons.
According to Callero, “Gavin is a D-I student-athlete on and off the court. He is an honor student that can run, rebound, and score down low. We want to build our house on his foundation!!”
The duo will join Seattle as it begins the transition to D-I next season. The Redhawks will play a mixed schedule next year with D-I schools and other competition before playing a full D-I schedule in 2008-09. Seattle will be eligible for D-I championships in 2012-13.
