2010 Indoor: Competed in the Great West Conference Championship in South Dakota, finishing fifth in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:47.27.
2009 Cross Country: Ran a 28:41 at the West Coast Preview 8K event on Sept. 11th, a 26:10 at Sundodger on Sept. 19th, and a 27:41 at the Emerald City Invite on Oct. 3rd. Finished with a time of 20:39 at the Mike Hodges Invitational on Oct. 16th. Completed the Great West Conference Championships with a time of 28:27.60 on Oct. 31.
2008-2009 Indoor: Ran a 9:01.31 in the 3000 Meter at the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 17th and placed 4th with a time of 9:02.8 in the 3000 Meter at the University of Portland Indoor on Feb. 6th
2008 Cross Country: Erik started his career by winning the Greenlake Time Trial in 22:51 over the 4.3-mile course. He continued to be one of the team's top finishers all season long, finishing in 12th place at the Emerald City Open (28:12), 15th at the Cascade Conference Preview (26:32.30), and 22nd at the Beaver Classic (25:44). He was named one of the Freshman 15 at the annual athletics awards show as one of the top first-year student-athletes within the department.
Whitefish Bay HS: Erik was a team captain and the number one runner for the Dukes during his senior season. He placed 29th at the 2007 Wisconsin state cross country meet. In 2006, Erik was voted as the most improved runner by his coach and teammates. Erik lettered twice in cross country and three times in track during his time at Whitefish Bay.
Personal: Erik majors in Business Administration at Seattle University. Erik is the son of Joan Kappes and Paul Barkhaus.
